Castor Oil

Castor oil is sweet, bitter, and astringent as well as heating, heavy, and oily. It is suitable for vata-dominated people. It relieves dry skin and improves the completion when used externally. Castor oil has healing properties and a nourishing, alkaline effect on the body. It penetrates deeply, into the protective layer under the skin. When taken orally, it acts as a purgative; it cures constipation and many abdominal conditions such as flatulence, colic, and ulcers. It is useful for eliminating toxins in the form of the undigested food mass known as ama. Castor oil serves as an aphrodisiac when taken with dates and milk, and increases one’s longevity and strength.
